Welcome to Wander Lab

Everything you need to know to get your family exploring.

1

Setting Up Your Account

  1. Create your parent account at wanderlab.ai/signup
  2. Verify your email address
  3. Complete parental consent (required by COPPA)
  4. Add your first child — name, grade level, and a PIN or password
  5. Share your Access Code with your kids so they can log in on any device

📱 Setting Up a New Device

The first time your child opens Wander Lab on a new device (tablet, Chromebook, phone, etc.), they'll be asked to enter your Access Code — a short 6-character code unique to your account. After entering it once, the device remembers it for 30 days.

  • Where to find it: Your Access Code is in your dashboard under Settings
  • One-time per device: After the first entry, your kids go straight to the profile selector on return visits
  • If it asks again: The device may have cleared its cookies, or your child may be using private/incognito browsing
  • Pro tip: Write the code down somewhere your kids can find it, or install Wander Lab as an app on their device so they always have quick access

💡 Tip: Getting your family started takes about 5 minutes.

2

Adding a Child

For each child, you'll set a name, grade level, date of birth, and login credentials:

  • Grades 2-5: 4-digit PIN (easy for little fingers)
  • Grades 6-12: Password (more appropriate for older kids)
  • Avatar: Your child picks their explorer avatar

When paid plans go live, each child will be billed individually — no family cap. Pricing details coming soon.

3

Your Daily Curiosity Digest

Every evening, you'll receive an email summarizing what your kids explored with Arf that day. It includes topic summaries for each child and any safety-related context.

  • Arrives daily at 5 PM (your local time)
  • One email covers all your children
  • Can also be sent to emergency contacts you add

💡 Tip: The digest isn't a report card — it's a conversation starter. Ask your child about the topics they explored!

4

Safety Alerts

Wander Lab has a two-tier safety system. Every message your child sends is screened:

Critical Alerts

Immediate email to you (and emergency contacts). Covers self-harm, abuse disclosures, and violence concerns.

Standard Alerts

Included in your daily digest with full context. Covers topics that need parental awareness.

If your child is in immediate danger, call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Wander Lab is not a substitute for emergency services.

5

The Parent Bridge Dashboard

  • Home: Overview of recent activity across all children
  • Children: Manage profiles, PINs/passwords, and per-child settings
  • Conversations: View full chat history for each child
  • Alerts: Review all safety alerts with context
  • Settings: Profile, notifications, privacy, and subscription

💡 Tip: You can view your child's full conversation history anytime — but remember, the goal is to spark conversation, not to spy.

6

Voice Features

Wander Lab supports both voice input (talk-to-type) and voice output (Arf reads responses aloud):

  • Voice input: Tap the microphone button to talk instead of type. Works on Chrome (desktop, Android, Chromebook, iPad, iPhone) and Safari (Mac, iPad, iPhone).
  • Voice output: Arf can read answers aloud. Tap the speaker icon on any message, or enable auto-play in the chat header.
  • Defaults: Voice is ON for grades 2-5, OFF for grades 6-12. You can change this per child in their profile settings.

On iPads and iPhones, if the microphone button doesn't appear in Chrome, go to Settings → Accessibility on the device and make sure microphone access is enabled for the browser. Safari works out of the box.

7

Install as an App

  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
  4. Tap "Add" — the Arf icon appears on your home screen

  3. Tap "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen"
